What does the Explain button do?

After you translate something, click Explain. An AI tutor explains the text in your language (the To language): a natural translation, what it means and any nuance, the main grammar points, useful vocabulary with readings (tap a word to look it up, or star it to save it) and other natural ways to say it. Up to 1,500 characters are explained at a time; for longer text, select a shorter passage.

Explain shows an error or says it is busy

• “The AI is busy right now”: wait a minute and try again.
• “Free AI explanations are fully used today”: the shared free allowance for all free users ran out today. Try again tomorrow, or upgrade to Pro.
• “The AI could not explain this text”: try a different passage.
• “Select a shorter passage”: explain less text at once. When an explanation fails, it is not counted against your daily limit.
